CÉSAR MARTÍ
Considered as a oenologist of rum because of his knowledge and background, César Martí experiments various ageing of aguardientes, in different environments and barrels. His latest experiment led him to craft the first edition of Eminente Gran Reserva with 80% of aguardientes that he aged in specific conditions: in a dry cellar, where the water evaporates faster than the alcohol. The final blend of aguardientes and light rum aged for a minimum of 10 years is finished for three months in French oak barrels. The finish in French oak barrels brings complexity but also balance in the mouth with notes of honey, sandalwood and orange blossom.
Eminente Gran Reserva is a rum made in the traditions of the center of the island that its inhabitants call ‘Isla del Cocodrilo’, its unusual shape evoking that of its native crocodile. The sensorial, textured glass of Eminente and its crocodile-shaped island on the label are reminiscent of the native animal. Eminente Gran Reserva is one of the few Cuban rums sold internationally to hold the coveted ‘Denominación de Origen Protegida’ or ‘D.O.P. Ron de Cuba’. Granted by the Regulatory Council, it imposes strict rules to ensure the authenticity of Cuban rum.
